Dear
Friends,
It's
a good thing this is the longest day of the year. That's how long I
needed to get this Summer Solstice issue to you!
Good things happening here have kept me hopping like Hugh Jackman on Tony Night –
I'm
pleased and proud that A VISION AND A VERSE broadsides will be part of Poets
House 22nd Annual Showcase, on view from June 26 – August 16.
I hope you'll be able to visit this amazing exhibition celebrating poetry books
and poetry related texts. www.poetshouse.org
Read what the New York Times had to say about The Showcase.
On Saturday June 28th from 1 – 4 pm, I'll be among the readers in the literary tent at the Bergen County Irish Festival. Directions to join us if you're in the vicinity.
I'm
pleased that one of the poems I'll be reading there will appear in the
forthcoming anthology CENSUS 4 from Seven
Towers Press.
Happy Summer Solstice! Here comes the Sun--
Somewhere,
there was a bird's possibility there;
a flight towards July's zenith,
a melting into August and the sun.
The fire burned away all that flesh, leaving
bones so white
they reminded her of the face of her old self,
how it looked in the mirror long ago.
And here are the new feathers among the ash,
here is the re-making.
